The Lowdown on College Life

Being in college, is no easy endeavors. I know that television series and movies tend to sensationalize and romanticize stuff. You think of going to college as something to look forward to because you get to be far away from the family and learn a lot of things (academic and otherwise), plus the fact that you get to attend all these awesome parties. All of those are true, but what entertainment people seem to be forgetting is showing not just the melodrama but also the scholastic difficulties college students have to face.

College is difficult because you get tons of reading assignments, research papers, exams, laboratories – the whole nine yards. If you don’t keep up with the fast-paced learning environment you’ll just get so far behind you won’t even see the track anyway. You’ll just be at the sidelines seeing your classmates walk the halls with their term papers in hand and ready for submission.

So it would not be a surprise to say that I had major reality check when I stepped into the halls of my university and had to listen to my professor recite a litany of his course’s requisites. It’s almost the end of the year now and I can say that I am slowly acclimatizing myself to the college environment. It’s really tough here, but still way too cool.
